Two further research scholarship papers have been finalized

In its series of research scholarships, EAJ has supported two further research scholars in finalizing their research papers and has posted them on the EAJ website. One paper was drafted by Wafaa Hassan: ‘Assessing the progressivity of the juvenile justice system in Somalia’; and the second paper was drafted by Amina Mohamed Abdulkadir” ‘Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Puntland’. Both scholars were supported with a research scholarship to design and conduct their own research. EAJ has supported them with advice and editing and formatting of the research reports. However, the research scholars are solely responsible for the selection of the research topic, the research methodology and findings.

The key focus of the research scholarship series is not to inform the EAJ with research results, but to allow Somali academia to research access to justice topics, and post those publicly to influence the country’s access to justice debates and to connect to local justice partners. The intention is to promote fruitful dialogue with academia and local practitioners in Somali society, in order to make justice sector reform thinking sustainable and locally driven in future.
